This course is designed to have the basic understanding of the components and techniques of self-funding.    The agent will be able to know the differences between self funded and fully insurance health plans.   A better understanding of how to identify the contracts and components of stop loss polices will be achieved.  The use of science, in the form of Disease  Management, Predictive Modeling etc as it applies to cost savings will be achieved.   Upon completion of the course the agent should the knowledge needed to successfully present self-funding plans to clients.

Speaker Bio: Kevin L. Chambers

After attending San Diego State University, Mr. Chambers joined New York Life in 1980 as an account executive, where he received his preliminary Life and Health Insurance Training.

In 1985, Mr. Chambers joined the local brokerage firm of Robson, Cavignac and Associates.  He specialized in the employee benefit arena.  Mr. Chambers was soon promoted to Vice President of the firm and managed a highly successful brokerage operation.

In 1996, Mr. Chambers relocated to Jackson Mississippi.  Equipped with his extensive managed care background, Mr. Chambers was asked to join Diversified Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mississippi Hospital Association.  At the time, Diversified Services Inc. had just formed a provider owned Health Insurance Company.  As Managing Director, Mr. Chambers staffed and oversaw all marketing and risk functions of this organization.

From 1999 to 2009 Mr. Chambers was involved with various projects and Healthcare related Companies both as an employee and advisor.  Since 2009 Mr. Chambers has been National Vice President of Sales of HealthSmart a Dallas-based Managed Healthcare Company.  In his time at HealthSmart he has been instrumental in the tremendous growth of the Company.  In addition, he has spearheaded the TribalCARE™ program from its infancy to being the most complete Healthcare solution for Native Americans in the market today.  As part of his commitment to the Healthcare industry he has volunteered as a licensed Department of Insurance instructor for the last 8 years.
